The cup is still over half full

The good news is we have the weakest remaining schedule in the country. 2 FCS teams, and the non-service academy teams on the schedule are a combined 2-13 against FBS competition. I think a top 3 finish for the Commander in Chief Trophy is very doable for this team also (breaking into the top 2 would be a real stretch though).

Ok we need to get to 6 wins to pretend we had a respectable season.

Wins - Yale, Rice, Kent St.

Losses - Ball St., Air Force, Western Kentucky, Navy

That leaves us needing to win against UConn and Fordham to get to 6-5 and bowl eligible. Of those two, UConn might be the easier game but I don't think we would be favored to win either.

Santiago keeps fumbling and finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Schurr needs to get into the lineup..

GBK: Official Army-Yale Game Day Thread

As previously mentioned, we will not have our weekly LIVE Blog/Chat up for this game. So we welcome everyone to join in here on this thread, as the Army Black Knights, who are 1-2 on the season take on the Bulldogs of Yale today at the Yale Bowl.

Army and Yale are meeting for the 46th time and the first time since 1996. Yale leads the all-time series 21-16-8, but the Black Knights have won the last four contest.

Although the kick off is at 1:00pm EST, you can feel free to jump at anytime before to get the flow going.

OT: Emily Olsen Commits to ARMY

Emily Olsen will be one of the first members of the newest Army D1 program - Women's Lacrosse at West Point. The Women's Lacrosse program will begin it's first season in the Patriot league in 2016, Emily's plebe year.

Emily's cousin, Captain Bo Olsen was a 2008 West Point graduate, and a member of the ARMY football team.

She was selected by US Lacrosse as a 2014 Academic All American, she is a four year HS starter on defense and Captain of her HS lacrosse & basketball teams. She was also considering several Ivy league schools.

As of today she joins about 11 other recruits for the Class of 2019 team. West Point already has a Women's Lacrosse Club team, which will build the program quickly.

Olsen's cousin is also Carolina Panthers TE, Greg Olsen.

Week One - A Win

First of all, you have to love a Win to start the season over an FBS opponent. Been a while.

Offense - overall looked great. Angel made good decisions, passing game was excellent and timely, backs are experienced and block well as well as run (and can catch out of the backfield). OL will get better.

Defense - passing yards are big, but I think secondary is better. 3 picks is half of last year's total and we were near people most of the time. Tackling still needs work, but we hit people. Bacon took some bad angles and is not a real safety but needs to be on the field. We have NO as in NADA pass rush. Passing stats are so high because the Buf QB had forever to throw with no pressure. Not sure how we get that other than lots of blitzing - someone needs to beat someone one on one and that is not happening.

Special Teams - overall better in returns and coverage. Maples was in position on the onsides kick and slipped. Not sure why we missed 2 XP, but that could have been big.

Three things to work on for me are - can't have Angel put it on the ground twice, penalties are ridiculous and I am sure Monken will work to fix and again NO pass rush.

First games are tough and first games with a new coach are double tough. A W and let's get better.
