Yahoo's Global outage (including Rivals.com)

Hello Army Football Fans and Subscribers to GBK:

Yahoo Media sites globally are currently having outages ? including a 23-minute complete outage for Rivals that is now fixed.
TO BE CLEAR: [/B]This was not a Rivals technology issue. Unfortunately now as Rivals migrates (slowly) to Yahoo, any of Yahoo's latency issues or outages can now bring Rivals down.
Prior to SSL, this problem would not have affected Rivals. The bad comes with the good, unfortunately, as we roll onto Yahoo's platform. Best part, is that we had scores (if not nearly 100) engineers globally handling this issue.

In preparation for latency and outages, Yahoo recently built a "failsafe" mode that forwards all users to a fixed number of sites. For example, going to the baseball page should forward you to yahoo sports with a saved version of the page from 5 minutes ago.

Unfortunately, this "failsafe" broke Rivals and a number of other Yahoo media sites. This is the best explanation for today's outage.

Thank you for understanding.

We Now Interrupt This Football Forum to Bring You Baseball

Our Army Black Knights (28-12), riding a 6-game winning streak, head to Annapolis this weekend to close out Patriot League play against Navy. Army stands just 1/2 game back from Bucknell in the standings, so home field advantage is at stake along with annual bragging rights this weekend.

Army currently checks in at #143 nationally in today's Iterative Strength Ratings (courtesy of www.boydsworld.com), a full 108 spots ahead of Navy at #251. With respective ISRs of 101.5 and 88.4, data suggests that Army has a 77.6% chance of winning each game played. That's close enough to 75% for me, so my prediction is that Army takes 3 of 4 and sings second come Sunday afternoon.

Season Tickets - a matter of principle?

Season tickets deadline is five days away and I have a problem. For my same seats as last year they want $88 more from me this year. What has Army done that justifies raising ticket prices? I'm not going to get too carried away, and I may still get season tickets this year because there is nothing I like better than tailgating at West Point, but the hubris on their part ticks me off. If more people felt the way I do and protested then it would make sense to hold out. I feel however that maybe im the only one who cares or even pays attention to these things. Army Football could care less about my season ticket because the rest of the season ticket holders are apathetic to how they are treated. I know the Monken era is upon us, but I've heard that before. I feel at this point that Army Football owes me for years of loyalty by putting a winning product on the field before they fleece me for more.

Left Handed Center

Have read where MH has changed to snapping with his left hand.

Am wondering if the reason(s) for that have to do with him being left handed (don't know if he is or not), a left handed snap is better for a right handed quarterback (also, don't know if that would be the case), Kelvin White, a left hander has changed position, or combinations of the foregoing.

The option which intrigues me the most is if a left handed snap puts the ball into a right handed quarterback's hands better?

GBK: What does DC, Jay Bateman have to say about the defense?

GoBlackKnights.com caught up with defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, who took time out to discuss the progress of the defense, expectation and who is stepping up to the plate thus far this spring.

OT: Rutgers just can't get out of their own way!

With the crap they faced a couple of years ago with the head basketball coach - which was a HUGE blackeye for their athletic programs across the board, they had close to 12 de-commits from the 2014 recruiting class and are taking a beating by Penn State in recruiting New Jersey for the 2015 class.

Now this with their "inexperienced" new AD, Julie Hermann.
