Clearly we are expecting great things from Monken and his staff. The question is - when will we see clear signs of the turnaround in W-L?
Are you more in the David Cutliffe camp at Duke where it took 5+ years for results?
2008: 4-8
2009: 5-7
2010: 3-9
2011: 3-9
2012: 6-7
2013: 10-4
2014: 9-4
Or are you in the Bill Snyder (first go-around) camp where meaningful progress was made right away but took ~5 years to achieve sustained performance?
1989: 1-10
1990: 5-6
1991: 7-4
1992: 5-6
1993: 9-2-1
Or are you in the Paul Johnson camp where it was a ~2 year turnaround?
2002: 2-10
2003: 8-5
2004: 10-2
For me, I'm not expecting more wins in 2015 but think 2016 is when the team will hit it's stride. So basically in the "Bill Snyder" camp. Paul Johnson with Navy is the closest analog in terms of team talent and system, but think we lost too much in the backfield/defensive line to take a major step forward (note: In 2003, Navy returned starting QB, and both slot backs; total of 5 offensive and 5 defensive returning starters excluding kicker and punter; depth chart going into that season had all seniors or juniors with exception of 1 sophomore).
Ultimately, I hope there is patience with Monken and his staff to get the full system implemented, the recruiting humming, and the culture changed.
