Florida Recruiting - Taking It To The Next Level

Im so happy Army has taken a serious interest in recruiting more Florida talent. Coach Monken and Coach Dewitt are doing an excellent job at recruiting in this state.

Moving forward, I would like to see Army take their Florida recruiting to a new level.
I wish Army would entertain the idea of hosting a satellite camp here in South Florida, the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area. The turnout would be amazing and the competition to garner the Army coaches interest would be impressive. Teams like Ohio State, Michigan and Rutgers to name a few are already doing this in some compacity. I think Army could be the first of all military academies to do so.

Please share your thoughts...

I wonder if Collin Whitaker will be at Saturday’s game

Just one more reason to kick Rice’s a$$ this weekend. I was just over on the Rice Rivals site and they have no content and of course, there hasn’t been one article written on Collin’s de-commit from us and his commit to Rice by their site. Pretty much how their fan base is as well.

Whitaker’s Rivals’ Profile

My guess is that Monken and staff are still recruiting Whitaker and I hope he is reconsidering his decision to play at Rice.

GBK Recruiting Update: Change in prospect’s recruiting status

Back in August we had reported that LB Vershawn Brock out of Chicago (IL) had committed to the Army staff. This was also confirmed by a source, but there were a few red flags that forced us to double-check the reliability of said pledge. One notable red-flag had to do with Brock’s class … meaning, was a 2016 or 2017 prospect. Presently, he is listed as a 2016 recruit under his Rivals profile, but we are not 100% sure if that is where he should be designated.

Charles Grevious took it another step further through other sources and the decision was made to renounce Brock as an Army commit at this time. Clearly, he is on Army’s recruiting radar, yes he has an offer, but until something changes … we don’t have him listed as an Army commit.

ESPN Networks will carry the Army-Air Force broadcast

USAFA, Colo. – The Army-Air Force game, scheduled for Nov. 7, will start at 3:30 p.m. eastern and be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU, the network announced today.

The announcement of which channel the game is featured will be made after this weekend’s contest. The matchup is the 50th all-time meeting between the two service academies.

The Black Knights will now have the final four games of the 2015 season on national television as they have the final two games at home against Tulane and Rutgers on CBS Sports Network and then the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA on CBS. The final two games at Michie Stadium are set for noon kickoffs, while the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA on Dec. 12 is a 3 p.m. start time.

The Black Knights start their march towards the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy after being off this week. Navy defeated Air Force earlier this season and Army can remain in the hunt for the trophy with a win on Nov. 7.

GBK Recruiting Update: Rice is not the only Texas focus for Army

Needless to say, a lot has changed since we first put out our Location (Click Here) article and this time it was the state of Texas.

When we say “changed”, we are referring to prospects who have made their college decision.

Rivals 2-star TE & Army commit,
Antoine Cannady

Yes, there have been a couple of targeted Texas recruits who have committed to Army (e.g. Antoine Cannady & Jake Monroe).

This is followed by those who are still in the decision mode and who have expressed genuine interest in Army West Point (e.g., Tony Brown, Justin Self, Eric Cal & Jake Sides).

Then you have those who offered prospects (e.g., Parker Braun headed to Georgia Tech) who have given their pledge elsewhere; along with recruits who have refined their list of schools they are more interested in versus those Army has offered, but the interest level from the player is not there anymore.

Of course you those new recruits making the Army West Point offer list from the Lone Star state and so the staff is now kicking into high gear once again.

What we do know is that upon the Black Knights’ arrival to Texas in preparation for the game against Rice on Saturday, the staff is in full-court press mode. Meaning, even though a coach like Orlando Mitjans, whose primary recruiting states are Maryland and New Jersey .... he along with other coaches are visiting prospects/high schools since the team’s arrival yesterday.
