  • I think every game we can win except Navy - unfortunately

Of our first eight games this season and minus the Duke embarrassment/loss (44-3), we have lost the other seven games by a total of 23 points (2, 5, 3, 6 & 7)

My question is this. Based on the remaining 4 games on our schedule starting Saturday versus Air Force, followed by Tulane, Rutgers - both which are at home and then to Philly to play Navy.

Do we have the team that can go on a 4 in a row run with those four opponents and finish the season @ 6-6?

GBK: Pep Talk 101

This morning I had a conversation with former Army CB Coach and current Denver Broncos Assistant Special Teams Coach Tony Coaxum ... he informed me that he will be talking to the prep school team tomorrow in Colorado Springs.

He indicated that he will talk to them on Thursday evening and he was asked by guys on the staff if he would do it, when they knew they would be coming out there.

TC said that he is just going to talk to them about the brotherhood of Army Football and what that means, along with what are they willing to do to win.

Getting Competitive via recruiting and changing the norm

Ive often said not much will change without better athletes. RE said we have to look at other avenues other than changing the name of the door of the head coaches office. Rocky Long, the successful head coach at SDSU said the triple option is the perfect offense bc you dont have to block everyone. When asked why he doesnt run it, he said bc every kid thinks they're going to the NFL even the slow, small ones. And I cant get them here running that offense. The thread about the 4 star Dublanko prospect, he talks about who can help him get to the NFL. But the 2 star DuBose thread, he says the same thing. A 2 star guy! My point is these are the real game changing issues. Why do we have 3 guys in the league, yet not a coherent, recruiting friendly "alternate service policy". I've tried to understand this shifting policy and I honestly dont. What I do comprehend of it, it seems completely incongruent to the fact that we have 3 guys in the NFL. We are throwing banana peels in the way of anyone who has a shot. My point is, that more than if we execute perfectly with guys we are asking too much from, more than play calling, not huddling around heaters, etc, these are the issues that will make us competitive. 1. Alternative service policy 2. Admission exceptions 3. 300 pound guys that have testing exceptions on swim and run etc. 4. The prep school. 5. Football dorms and relaxing of certain duties. I am not a WP grad. I dont pretend to know what more intelligent insider posters know. But these are the issues that will unlock wins. This may be waving a red flag in front of a bull. And if they are explicity made public will bring scorn upon the academy. But without progressiveness in this area we will get the same thing we have reaped for the last 20. If you always do what you've always done. You'll always get what you've always got.

A not so important question

i thought one of the huge advantages to this Nike rebrand was supposed to be all these bad to the bone uniform combinations Army was supposed to have....second only to Oregon I was told.

I have seen every game except Duke (praise the Lord) and unless I am mistaken, we have worn the same gold pants and helmets, and home black or away white jersey in every game...what gives?

I am not advocating a return to ACUs...but what happened to the other uniform options?

Air Force already lost to Navy in Annapolis earlier this season and cannot win the trophy outright but could still retain the trophy if they win this game and Army beats Navy. A win against AFA would add additional meaning to the season finale against Navy this year by putting the CiC trophy on the…
