Before we roll out our coverage from Saturday’s upcoming Army 1-day football camp, here are a few tidbits to wet your recruiting appetite.
QB prospect Donald Hammond won’t be on campus at Saturday’s 1-day football camp. But the Rivals 2-star prospect out of Georgia took an unofficial visit to the academy on Wednesday. He spent time meeting with QB coach, Mitch Ware, and later toured the campus and the football facilities.
Speaking of unofficial visits .... Ashton Barnes was also on campus and by all accounts had a great time. Like Hammond, he will not be at Saturday’s camp.
One of the 170 scheduled/registered participates will be QB Felix Harper, who is a heavy Army lean and text us early to confirm that he is already at West Point.
Stay tuned for our recruiting update on 2017 prospect and Rivals 3-star RB Travis Levy.
Another new name to keep an eye on is Michael Davenport, who was offered on Thursday by CB coach Orlando Mitjans. We will more on what is unfolding with the Woodberry (Va.) safety’s recruiting in a separate and upcoming GBK article.
Like Davenport, Alonzo McCoy was spotted at the University of Maryland camp and was offered on the spot by Mitjans as well. The 5’11” 177 pound CB committed to Toledo back in March, but his recruiting remains open and we will have more on McCoy’s status .... so keep it right here.
