GBK: An early look at the 2015 opponents/season

Spring practice has yet to start and it's way too early to make any solid predictions for the season, but GBK will take a first look at what we might expect from the Army opponents for the 2015 season, which include two Big Ten programs in Penn State and Rutgers, along with the much improved Duke program out of the ACC … just to mention a few. Oh yeah, those other two academies - Air Force and Navy.

The Mike & Mike show completely bashing college recruiting

Interesting - Mike Greenberg is completely bashing Bobby Petrino and the fact that he dropped the top recruit from South Carolina 48 hrs from signing day. Greenberg just bashed the whole college recruiting system in that even though a college schollie is offered and accepted by both sides, that it doesn't have to be honored. MIke Golic defended the system a little and said that even the recruit can commit to a school but the sign to a different school.

Mike Greenberg said that the whole system stinks and that the system should be changed and overhauled because when people (school & recruit) give their word, it should be honored on both sides.

Greenberg is like the common person trying to figure out why this whole system is like this and Golic is of course more knowledgeable in the ins and outs and perils of college recruiting, but it's interesting to hear Greenberg's take.

New? Names

Looking through news from yesterday, I've seen a few names that don't look familiar to me. I wasn't able to get on the chat yesterday, so I don't know if these guys were mentioned. If so, I apologize for the repeat, but welcome to these guys anyway:

LB Marco Carrabotta from Virginia

LB Damani Carter from Arkansas

WR Christian Hayes from California

K Nick Schrage from Fork Union Military Academy

Polynesian Punch +1

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that OL Eathan Palelei and Radson Jang will be signing today as I have seen their game film and I know that they will fit into coach Monten's offensive scheme of B-back/QB option football (not T-option, really). I have especially been impressed with the solid line play of Jang who I heard about two years ago as he played for my high school (Kamehameha in Hawaii) and is hopefully joining my second alma mater, West Point. He is quick, pulls exceptionally well, and will stay with his block until he flattens his quarry, sometimes 20 yards downfield! These two, when added to another Polynesian OL Jaryn Villegas from Hawaii will constitute the "Polynesian Punch" and with Bryce Holland (outstanding OL) will constitute the team that will make coach Monken's QB/B-back scheme work and will make the coach look like he knew what he was doing all along (moving away from the T-option). So, in conclusion, I think the "Polynesian Punch +1" (Holland) will be the nucleus of Army football for the next 3 years under coach Monken.
