USMAPS defeats Navy Prep 27-21 today!

Strong performance by USMAPS Today over NAPS. Shutout Navy Prep in 2nd half to secure victory. I really enjoyed watching this team play this year, finishing the season 7-2. Was at the Air Force Prep game and gave that one away. Besides the athleticism, the best thing about this group is how they play with an edge! They expected to win every game and it showed! Congrats on a great season and great things to come.

GBK Recruiting Update: The Pace Picks Up Speed!

There’s tons of recruiting to report and bring your way, especially for your folks out there that embrace the idea of what quality recruiting can do for a program. We sincerely believe that is exactly what Coach Monken and the staff continue to do.

We will have an update on the Smith twins (Cade & Zach) out of Texas, who are ballers and both play linebacker. Cade recently received a PWO from the Michigan Wolverines, but we will more on that later.

Then there’s this Saturday’s group of visitors, who will be on hand as Army host Rutgers. Although we will have an upcoming article on Saturday’s guest, here are just a few:

Rivals 2-star OL, Devon Robinson out of New Jersey

  • Outside Linebacker, Christian Gomez - Rivals 3-star and Army commit is one of the Black Knights’ jewel pledges, who committed early on.
  • Cornerback, Bryson Perry - picked up offer from Army on October 21st
  • Athlete, Yajaha Banks - Named running back MVP at Army’s one day camp this past summer. Saturday will mark his 3rd visit on campus.
  • Ramar Williams - QB - This Rivals 3-star prospect out of Maryland is a stud and having him on campus is huge step for the Army staff.
  • Noel Hijazi - OL
  • Devon Robinson - OL - We have been covering this Rivals 2-star and Illinois commit as if he had pledged to Army. Well, as we shared in our last update on the big OL, it is down to the Black Knights and the Fighting Illini.
Yes, there are some big-time guys that are coming on Saturday.

Official Army vs. Rutgers game prediction thread

Rutgers is having just as much of a poor season as we are. But if you know anything about their program and the fans, they consistently think they are an elite program and they just aren’t.

Their fans will come to the campus of West Point as tourist and not competing fans and their staff/team will enter Michie Stadium over confident as if they have already arrived.

This game will seal the deal with their head coach (Flood) getting his walking papers. Mark my word.

Army 28
Rutgers 24

Back on the Hot Seat

Pasted in below from The Coaches Hot Seat. Coach Monken needs a win at AF!

27. Jeff Monken, Army – In his second season at Army Jeff Monken is plodding along at a pretty pitiful pace just like a lot of Army coaches have plodded along at West Point in recent years….make that for two-plus decades…and frankly…

We are sick of Army football being PITIFUL!

With Army’s loss to Rice on Saturday that dropped the Black Knights record to…

2 – 6

…on the season with these games still left on the schedule:

At Air Force
Tulane
Rutgers
Navy

Damn Jeff Monken….you need to win your last FOUR games to get bowl-eligible and THREE of your last FOUR games are against teams better than the team you just lost to in Rice!

Come on….Coach up Army Jeff Monken

Interesting Army Statistic

Phil Steele tweeted an interesting stat this morning on FBS teams currently running the fewest offensive plays per game:

1. Army 60.4
2. Syracuse 62.6
3. LSU 62.7
4. Penn St 62.8
5. Georgia 63.6
6. South Carolina 63.8

What could this be measuring? Shorter drives? Drives suddenly ending due to huge plays? I kind of think it is that last one as we have had a lot of long TD plays including passes. And also fumbles lost on the first series of downs in a possession. We have bipolar disorder!

The Remains of the 2015 Season

What are your thoughts on what Army can still accomplish in the remaining few weeks of the 2015 season? Here are my quick thoughts:

1) Recruiting!! It seems that the staff aimed much higher this year with many, many offers to 3 star+ talent. Already we have matched the total of 2015 with 2 Rivals three stars in Christian Gomez and Kjetil Cline. Can we get more? It seems like any of the following are still possible based on reports: Joe Dublanko (4 star), Tre Miller (3 star), and Miles Strickland (3 star). Any one of these players would be a huge 'get' for the team.

2) Beat Rutgers!. Army opened as a 5.5 point underdog vs Rutgers in Vegas today. That's a winnable game if our team responds with some pride for the last home game of the season. It would also greatly help with the recruits who may be visiting or just paying attention. The NJ recruits we are still talking to could be particularly influenced by a good showing in this game.

3) Avoid being embarrassed by Navy. Not being blown out in this game is important. Notice that I offered no opinion on our chances of winning.

Anyone else tired of hearing Monken say ...

… how other teams are more athletic, bigger and faster? I hear that almost every single press conference - his Tuesday Weekly, his post game - especially if we lose the game.

Sounds like ace in the hole get out of jail free card!

Just coach who you have here, you knew that when you took the job so stop making excuses and win some damn games please!

Tulane 34 Army 31

Let's hear your comments. Was anyone watching?

My initial thoughts are that this is an Army team that plays poorly, lacks confidence, and does not execute its bread and butter plays well. It is a consistently bad team. The coaches fail to make a difference through practices or game decisions. I am extremely disappointed with today's performance but unfortunately it is exactly what I expected after watching this team play the past two years.

As bad as we have played lately it is surprising to see us getting even worse.
