Another Army Navy observation - X Moss

I've been very critical of him but I thought he had an excellent game vs Navy. Maybe his best as a Safety. He had an excellent solo tackle on Swain. One of the best hits on a WR I have seen this year. Defended passes pretty darn well. On the crossing play TD, he was picked and they should have thrown a flag. When I was next to him in Colo Springs I realized he is very accurately listed. He has the size and athleticism to play at this level. After all that was invested in this move and the fact that he's a senior next year, I am really hopeful this performance carries over and becomes the norm.

Army -Navy Week Part I

No better time than now to get the ball rolling as we prepare to kick Navy’s asses and I don’t care where they are ranked and what our season has looked like. This is a whole new ball game come Dec. 12th and our defense will look Reynolds directly in the eyes and say with our play -- “How You Like Me Now?

Bye-bye, Bill the Goat

The Inside Stuff Army to Wear Branch Helmets on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - Army football will wear special helmets for Saturday’s Army-Navy Game presented by USAA. The helmets feature 11 different divisions of the U.S. Army and they are broken down by position, while individual team members will also be wearing stickers based on a special bond with that unit.

Overall, there will be 17 different helmet variations representing branches cadets enter upon graduation from West Point.

THE COMBAT ARM OF THE DECISION

Here is the list of divisions the positions will be wearing:

Quarterbacks – 3rd Infantry Division
Fullbacks – 4th Infantry Division
Running Backs – 25th Infantry Division
Tight Ends – 7th Infantry Division
Offensive Line – 1st Armored Division
Wide Receivers – 82nd Airborne Division
Defensive Line – 1st Calvary Division
Linebackers – 10th Mountain Division
Cornerbacks – 2nd Infantry Division
Safeties – 101st Airborne Division
Special Teams – 1st Infantry Divison

Individual helmet decals and reasons behind wearing them:

#17 Ahmad Bradshaw – 82nd Airborne: Teammate Christian Reed’s branch

#19 Michael McFadden – 82nd Airborne: Father’s Unit

#21 Mitchell Howard – 25th Infantry: Cousin, Dallas Axup, did a tour in Afghanistan in 2010 with the 25th Infantry

#31 Caleb McNeill – 2nd Infantry: Grandfather served in the Signal Communications unit attached to the 2nd Infantry Division in the Korean War and received a Silver Star for his service.

#40 Matt Giachinta – 4th Armored: Worn by his grandfather

#40 Chandler Ramirez – 75th Ranger Regiment: Representing his prior service friend Ryan Kreps. He is an outstanding individual and is one of the key reasons for Ramirez’s success.

#42 Calen Holt – 173rd Airborne: Grandfather’s unit in the Vietnam War

#44 Zach Saum – 1st Infantry: Best friend, Zachary Gilliland, was deployed to Kandahar Province Afghanistan from June 4, 2013 until February 28, 2014. He deployed with the 1-26 Infantry Regiment "Blue Spaders," 3rd Brigade 1st infantry Division. He was a 68 whiskey during his deployment, which is a combat medic. During his deployment he also got attached to the 7th group Special Forces teams ODA teams 7422, 7316, and 7322. Gilliland saw a lot of action while he was down range and saved countless lives, but there was also many that he couldn't save, so wearing his patch will not only represent him but all the men and women that he was with during his deployment.

#51 Justin Fahn – 3rd Ranger Battalion: My father, Greg Fahn, served in the 3rd Ranger Battalion from 1987 to 1991 as an S2 and took part in Operation Just Cause. He has been a big role model for me and is the reason I came to Army.

#66 Joshua Boylan – 2nd Calvary: Father’s unit

#75 Evan Finnane – 173rd ABCT: Uncle, Karl Peter, was an FA officer and was deployed to Iraq with the 173rd ABCT.

#77 Tim Gant – 3rd Infantry Division: Cousin, Sergeant First Class, Abe Weatherby, served in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 2nd and 3rd Infantry. A very heroic selfless individual who lives in Missouri now with a wife and two kids.

#80 Alex Tardieu – 1-186 Infantry: Best friend and long snapper from high school, Hunter Fields, deployed to Afghanistan with this unit in 2014.

#83 Scott Flanick – 3rd Infantry: Father served in the 3rd Infantry Division and it was his favorite unit he served in during his commitment.

#95 Daniel Grochowski – 27th Infantry Division: Grandfather’s unit on Okinawa

#98 J.D. Mote – 12th Armored: Family friend's unit, who inspired him to come to West Point

2016 Recruiting Notes

It appears that the Rivals Midwest analyst(s) updated recruit ratings this week. Our commits from Wisconsin and Indiana are now rated. OL Michael Gerber obtained a 5.4 rating. So did S Andre Randolph. LB Aaron Jones is a 5.3. Finally, S Gavin Bassett picked up a 5.2. All of these are two star ratings. This 2016 class is now approaching the strength of the 2015 class and we still have 2 months to go!

There was a setback on Monday when OL Justin Self committed to Navy.

Army Navy 1963

The game was played in the immediate aftermath of President Kennedys assasination at the request of the Kennedy family. This was one of the most exciting and disheartening football games in the long ARMY NAVY history.
Trailing 21-7 with 6 minutes left in the 4 th qtr QB Rollie Stichweh teamed up with big 6ft 4 half back KEN WALDROP to methodically gash the Navy line and put the ball in the end zone .ARMY followed with a 2 pt conversion making it 21-15. With a little more than 2 minutes remaining Stichweh recovered the onside kick at the Navy 49 yard line. Once again WALDROP went to work cutting 5 and 6 yard chunks out of the Navy defense. Army drove to the Navy 2 yard line with a 5 yard carry by WALDROP. The clock still had about 15 seconds but Stichweh could not quiet the 102,000 thousand fans especially in the enclosed area near the end zone/ The refs called time twice to try and quiet the crowd. On his third attempt Stichweh tried to get another timeout but the Refs let the clock run and time ran out;
The ARMY CROWD WAS STUNNED BEYOND BELIEF . If NAVY had stopped ARMY on the goaline it would have been a great Navy victory but to have never had the chance to run the final play was devastating to the Army faithful. WALDROP had not been stopped for less than 4 yards on the entire drive
Navy led by Rodger Staubach was ranked #2 in the nation. Army had two losses but the winner of the game was to play #1 Texas in the Cotton Bowl . IN 1964 ARMY would get revenge AS STICHWEH led Army beat Staubach and the midshipmen 11-8.
This is MY STILL STUNNED RECOLLECTION of the game some 52 YEAS LATER. Others may have thoughts to add.
BEAT NAVY

Official Army vs. Navy game prediction thread

OK, two weeks from now we will know the outcome of the game.
What are your realistic predictions for this game? 6-7 weeks ago I would have given a different response, but I unfortunately predict this Army team will not defeat this very experienced and strong Navy team.
I do believe however it will not be the blow out prognosticators are likely to say in Vegas.
