Is the passion of football back?

I have seen a lot in this program over the years, the beginning of the RE area, to Monken. Honestly didn't think I would be able to say this, and it's still early yet. But I think the program is moving in the right direction... Yes it's still a few things that remain to be seen, but I believe the (SCHOOL) is finally behind doing what is needed to bring this program out of the dark ages. Having the nagging question still circling over my head, IS THE PASSION OF FOOTBALL HERE?? Over the years I couldn't see it clearly, it was a emotional roller coaster ride, with the staff, players and the fans. Going to our opponents fields, seeing all the excitement and the support they gave their team, always left me wondering what's wrong with our team. They deserve this too, even more because of their sacrifices.... Watching Navy and Airforce, having the same support as the other teams, made me angry that (we) was lacking the spirit of football.. Understanding that makes a difference on performance of the players week after week. However this season seems to be bringing a different (AIR)... GBK have been bringing a different atmosphere, to this site. Really going head to head, with questions about football and the lack there of and what are you going to do about it... Which is a big difference I must say!!!!!! Are we seeing a different (football team)? Will we finally get to see the passion in the players and staff completely? Will we finally see the (SCHOOL AND CADETS) giving a 100% support on and off the field? Will Army football reach a all time high every week? Can't wait to see, good luck guys!!!!

Go Army beat Navy

GBK: "Going Dancing"

For the second time in three years, the Army West Point women's basketball team will be extending its season into the NCAA Tournament. This week's Feature Friday is a compilation of the team's week leading up to the big dance at the Carrier Dome where the 13-seeded Black Knights will face No. 4 Syracuse at 2:30 p.m. today.

Nearing the conclusion of the best season in Army West Point women's basketball history, the Black Knights face Syracuse on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The team's historic season includes program records of 29 wins, 19 straight victories and a fourth consecutive trip to a national postseason tournament. The week began with ESPN's NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Monday evening before the team took the court at the Carrier Dome for the first time for practice on Thursday afternoon.

I encourage you to watch the videos in the following link to see just how much this season means to this group of cadet-athletes. Please show your support to the team today as they begin their dance into March Madness.

The Inside Stuff Upcoming on GBK

GBK will have tons of featured articles as we begin to get primed for the kick-off of Army Spring Football 2016.

So, what’s upcoming on GBK? Well, I am glad that you asked.

Starting next week (3/13) will be our 2016 Opponent Preview Series, starting off with Army’s season opener opponent, the Temple Owls and we will continue down the schedule. And you know this analysis will be awesome, because no one breaks it down better than our own, Gordon Larson.

Also during the upcoming week, you will have our in-depth Q&A with newly hired coaches, ShaDon Brown (corners); Daryl Dixon (outside linebackers) & Chad Wilt (defensive line). I think you will like what each has to say, and I was really impressed with Brown’s take on returning corners, Josh Jenkins and Brandon Jackson ... good stuff if I say so myself.

Of course, this wouldn’t be GoBlackKnights.com if we didn’t have you front and center with what has and is unfolding with recruiting lead by A.M. Allan. Yes, we have several updates on members of the Black Knights’ 2016 recruiting class, as they prepare to close out their high school careers and make their way to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Then we have updates on a few 2017 prospects who have already taken unofficial visits to the academy ... even before April’s Junior Day.

Did I mention that we will also feature our GBK: Top Ten Incoming Offensive Freshmen? We have our list, but who would make your list if you had to pick a Top 10?

Either way, get ready as we move into the next gear of GBK Army Black Knights’ Football Coverage 2016.

Tough NCAA Tourney Draw for Army

Tough draw to have to play Syracuse at home, especially being seeded below Albany, who they beat head-to-head, 65-62. Granted playing Florida would likely be as big a challenge, but at least it wouldn't be facing a Power 5 conference school on its home court. I get that it's all a matter of RPI, but at a glance, its hard to understand why Albany's America East schedule outweighs Army's Patriot League schedule, as well as losing to Army head-to-head. I suppose Army would have been better served if Loyola had not upset Bucknell in the league tournament semifinals. A win over Bucknell in the finals rather than Loyola might have bumped Army over Albany.

Here are at least 3-4 guys I can’t wait to see on the field this year!

1. Bryce Holland returning from missing all of 2015 due to injury. The guy is a stud and we won’t miss a beat with the graduation of center Matt Hugenberg.

2. Like Holland, DL Andrew McLean missed the entire 2015 season, but is very much needed up front. Someone just posted on the Tim Caron thread that McLean is now up to 290 pounds, which would be awesome.

3. CB Josh Jenkins. Man, if he is able to make a comeback after missing all of the season last year, what an upgrade to our defense.

4. He didn’t miss the season, on the contrary he was just a frosh last year and I can’t wait to see what winter S&C has done for DE Kenneth Brinson, along many of the other plebes.
