Army Basketball's 13 game non-conf schedule for this coming season is ho hum.

It appears that the tournament in London (Princeton, Northeastern, and Manhattan) has supplanted the typical game against a Power 5 Opponent. Also, no game against Air Force. At least the Army women's team is playing Texas A&M.

Doesn't seem to be a positive development to me, but if the promoter of the London tournament is picking up the cost, or even paying the participating schools something additional to their transportation costs, perhaps it's worth it.

In mid-Nov (19-20), they're playing, along with Radford, in what's being billed by the host, William & Mary as a "Multi-Team Event." At least playing Radford at W&M will save the program the cost of the bus ride across the state. This will feature a match-up of two of the four remaining original D1 teams never to have played in the NCAA Tourney (Army vs W&M).

There are two Div III opponents on the schedule, Merchant Marine and Keystone.

Surprisingly Stonehill has just moved up to Div 1 in Northeast Conf this year, so at least that will be a legitimate game.

How do we not play Air Force? Smh
It could be that there was not a mutually agreeable date available for both teams, but likely the decision for the two academies not to play each other in basketball this year was purely an economic decision based on travel costs.

Neither Air Force nor Army draw enough attendance to earn ticket revenue to cover the costs of the programs. As with most of the collegiate athletic programs its a combination of donors, student fees, or the football program revenues paying the bills for all varsity athletics.

Air Force's 2022-2023 season schedule isn't posted yet, but last year, except for a couple of tournament games in Florida, they did not travel east of the Mississippi for a game.

Likewise, except for when the host is providing a payout, Army's away games are for the most part in the Northeast or MidAtlantic states.
