I’m puzzled! Coming into this season, I was very concerned that we were installing a new offense and starting a new QB. However, as we went through summer camp, the overall vibe coming out was a positive one. My impression, maybe wrong, was that Coach seemed relatively positive about how the transition was going. Looking forward to the season. As I hung onto his words in every post practice/scrimmage briefing, I was expecting to hear the typical Monken assessment, “ We got to get a lot better! If the season were to start today, we’re in trouble.” These have been the typical opinions express by Coach in prior years. He even expressed multiple times that he really liked this team, and the senior leadership. With that feedback, I was feeling more hopeful, maybe optimistic. Am I alone is sensing a more positive Monken coming to the season than in the past? If not, I am very puzzled why the optimism, especially given the way the season has gone? Was Coache’s calibration on the real talent, discipline , execution off that much? Why didn’t he see this coming?
