As it has been with every college football program in the country since FOREVER, recruiting of high school players is the mainstay or a major part of the success or failure of a program.

However, as we see today and just look at Rivals and others, the Transfer Portal content is almost equal to or getting close to the high school recruiting coverage, especially this time of year.

So, with many college players who are freshmen and who have submitted their names into the portal and here is my question … WOULD IT NOT MAKE SENSE FOR US TO GO AFTER SAID PLAYERS WHO FIT THE CRITERIA that we expect a high school senior to have”

For example, Dartmouth DL Josiah Green transfers to Duke. This young man most likely has the grads and football talents that would fit us and therefore, it would be worth at least exploring his interest or lack thereof when it comes to West Point and Army football

Official Army-Navy Game (12/14) Fan Prediction Thread

There is a GBK article (GBK: Predicting Army Black Knights' 2024 Campaign) whereby Joe Iacono has given his prediction of the upcoming season, which kicked off on 8/30.

On Saturday, the nationally ranked Black Knights and academy rival Navy, go head-to-head at Northwest Stadium in Landover, MD.

There are games, and then there are games. This is 'The Game' and the vibe within the walls of the Army football program, the academy, as well as outside of the academy, where West Point grads and fans from various platforms continue to embrace this outstanding season from Army, where the team currently holds an 11-1 record and they are currently ranked in the Top 25 of college football.

With being said, chime in with your prediction for Saturday's (12/14) nationally viewed game.

The Inside Stuff GBK: "Best Non-Army Football Sports Thing I Saw Today Thread!"

Hey Army Fans and GBK Subscribers,

As you know, GBK is always attempting to come up with ideas to ensure that during this offseason, but honestly, all the time ... the 12th Knight message board is active, engaging, and interactive.

That being said and again, here we are in June and one thread that we want to start is called "Best Non-Army Football Sports Thing I Saw Today!".

Needless to say there are so many sports-related topics, so this is not a matter of BEST topic per se, but more so what caught your eye and others can talk about it or add their own Best Non-Army Football Sports Thing I Saw Today.

There are a couple of topics that caught my attention from yesterday’s sports activities, but I am going to allow the fans here to chime in first …

… SO LET’S KICK THIS OFF RIGHT NOW!

Predictions Thread Standings

After the Tulane game, I posted whose prediction was first, second, and third for each of the twelve games Army West Point has played, including the three who predicted against the BKs for the future national champions (ND) game.

Awarding five points for being the closest, three points for runner-up, and one point for third; AND giving another five points to anyone who nailed the score (regfadden did it for Temple), here are the current standings going in to the final two games of the 2024 season:

In first place, with 14 points, is NJFAN with one win and three runner-up predictions.

Currently in second place, with 13 points, is Armyconner08, the only poster with two wins, and one runner-up prediction.

In third place is regfadden with 12 points, having one exact prediction win and achieving two third-place predictions.

(11 points, and still making the CFP or College Football Predictions playoff, is Son of Slum and Gravy (can't you just hear that song in your mind, then you are Gray)

(9 points) me

(8 points) BetterThanNavy and BaddAssArmy

(7 points) Indadshonor and dayknight71

(5 points) Boomerang87, TheNewBlackKnights09, and OntheHudson87

(4 points) Chris2321

(3 points) ArmyFootball2006, McKnight, and Jiacono**

(2 points) DocJayy

(1 point) ArmyRusher22, rpais, ajfitz1993, and whatapain

* I did not include the unofficial predictions many of us made for the navy - Notre Dame game

** Joe might have more points, I only recorded his predictions - if he made one - from his great Behind the Lines articles since the NTU game

How do you measure success at West Point?

Measuring athletic success at a SA is tough, whether it is club, NCAA, or D1 football.

What are the absolute goals? Conference, regional, or national success is important. However, developing leaders of character is the stated mission. Producing future leaders for the Army is paramount but there are many elements that are factors must be considered. How do you evaluate a coach or a program?
What’s more important; a winning conference/national record vs high graduation rate and performance in the corps? Performance in the Army is the main goal but adds many factors beyond a coaches control. It’s hard to measure or determine cause and effect?
Where is the magic marker that describes a successful program/coach? Army/Navy record? Conference record? Team QPA? Number of leaders in the corps? Number of Combat Arms grads? Retention rate in the Army?
Does a high representation of leaders in the corps mean anything?
Does a high winning record mean anything?
Does a winning record versus the other SAs help?
Good donor relations?
Good parent relations?
Good national image?
What else are we looking for?
