To Our Valued Rivals.com Subscribers,

Monday, Tuesday and for a 15 minute period on Wednesday we had periods of downtime on the site.

I want to first and foremost say that this is no reflection on the work and efforts of our valued publishers and staff around the country that produce great content and manage the fantastic message board communities day in and day out. It is on our leadership team, starting with myself, to make sure that these issues are solved and site stability through the 2016 college football season and beyond is the absolute top priority. We have identified what caused the issue and we will continue to work around the clock optimizing and updating our system to prevent future downtime.

Our hope is to keep your trust as a valued subscriber not with our words and promises, but with our actions and our work. We must be better and our aim is to provide the user experience that each of our customers deserve.

Sincerely,

Air Force Media Guide Out

Information on what's going on at AF Academy is hard to come by, so the recently published Media Guide is the first official view of Calhoun's plans for 2016. A few surprises in the depth chart.

1. Romine is not on the top of the depth chart at QB. Right now, the #1 listed QB is Pate Davis, a senior who has appeared in 4 games, but has no rushing attempts of passing attempts. It will be interesting to see if he still holds that spot at the start of the season. Most people expected Romine to get the job, but he's been recovering from a torn ACL, which had people suggesting that Calhoun might back away from the triple option to more of a conventional running game with an increase in passing.

2. Junior Duty-Tyson is listed ahead of seniors Davern and Johnson at FB, which is a bit of a surprise, but not earth shaking since Davern and Johnson were both sidelined with injuries last year.

3. Senior Ryan Watson was moved up from OLB to DE to take the place of last year's leading pass rusher, Hansen. Watson was expected to be a backup OLB this year.

All eleven top spots on the defensive depth chart are occupied by seniors, and 4 of the #2 spots are also seniors; so you have seniors in 15 of the 22 spots on the defense's 2-deep. 7 of the 11 were regular starters last year. The rest were moved up.

The top spots on offense are filled by 6 seniors and 5 juniors, but only 3 of them (Robinette, Owens, and Sandor) were regular starters last season, and 2 of their OLs split the starts at center.

West Point Prep School

USMAPS (United States Military Academy Prep School) also known as West Point Prep or MAPS on Sports pages does not receive much attention "by design". Those Cadet Candidates attending USMAPS are not obligated to move on to Army West Point and are subject to being lured away by other coaches. Navy and Air Force have reportedly had a real problem with this in years past. Not so much today.

The former Cadet Candidates are now New Cadets, busy with football practice. Here is information about the 2015 USMAPS football season:

This is going to be an interesting competition come spring ball, but it is a plus for us to have two capable players under center, but I would like one to eventually lock down the job. So, who do you think it will be?

Crazy Colonel (Ragsdale) just stopping by

Most of you know me as the Crazy Colonel, a title and distinction I wear as a badge of honor. Clearly, I don’t get on the message board as much as I would like, but I will say this: I frequently check GBK for it’s articles about Army football, their analysis and, especially during the months leading up to "Signing Day" in February, their recruiting coverage ... all are the best in my opinion.

I also peak in on the 12th Knight as much as I can and I can see that I’m not the only Crazy Army fan out there, which is awesome.

Anyway, Happy Holidays to all and GO ARMY, BEAT NAVY!
