I might get yelled at by Charles, but I wanted to extend congrats to him and his family for a few notable accomplishments over the past couple of weeks.

For those who don’t know, he has twin sons who are former Black Knights and 2007 West Point grads. One (Sean) was recently promoted to Lt. Colonel.



On the football side of things, Charles’ grandson, who is only a sophomore in high school (in Hawaii) is a blazer and finished 2nd (200m), 5th (100m) & 4th (Long Jump) in the State Championship. He also plays CB at his high school.

The guys really put in the work and it showed.

Talented safety Quindrelin Hammonds had hopes of at least being invited to an NFL team's rookie camp (e.g., Leo Lowin and Josh Lingenfelter), although my guess is that he would be taking the same route as teammate Jimmy Ciarlo, who signed a UDF contract.

However, ‘Q’s’ packet/application was declined by the Secretary of the Army and he NFL journey has officially ended.

I'm starting to hear about some of the players leaving and/or have already left. One of our highest rated one is already gone. Some because of grades, some family, some not a good fit for them. It happens every year. For instance from the 2021 USMAPS class, out of 12 OL only two are left. Probably only one will be left next year. Lots of attrition. It's very tough to play football at an academy and certainly not everyone is capable. It's not the top priority.

On defense at USMAPS, we had some studs on the DL. One of the best ones (in my opinion) will be leaving but a couple really good ones are all in. Our best D back is staying. I'm not sure if I should mention names on here of ones leaving. As a group, lot's of talent, we will see who all makes it. I specifically think we need help at DL and think a few have potential to contribute soon. I also think one D-back could be ready as well.

In terms of any potential offensive help for next year it was hard to evaluate the USMAPS games with all the rotating they do (they pretty much rotate the backfield every series). The OL struggled at the beginning of the year but got better as season progressed. I know the JV was not impressed with the USMAPS OL and pretty much dominated them in the scrimmages (normally the USMAPS is close or beats JV). Not sure how many will contribute from this group as the OL usually takes the longest to develop. QB's were all pretty good runners. They didn't have a lot of success passing. The most allusive running QB will be leaving. Because of the lack of passing success it was hard to evaluate the WR's but looks to have a couple studs in my opinion. At RB, they recruited about 15, about 7 played on rotation. It's hard to evaluate but looks like the best ones will be staying. They have a couple power backs who are very good and one traditional back with speed that got most of the big plays. Those three should be moving on to USMA.

With people on this board upset with Thatcher and Drink just keep in mind the new offense will need players that fit the system. It's very different from what the players were recruited for and it's going to take awhile. Thatcher and drink are the best recruiters on offense and I think Thatcher's offense just needs some time and players that are a better fit. He's not really able to run the system he wants to run yet. It will always be a power O, but they will need to be able throw some for it to work. How much would Alston of helped this offense? As good as Tyson Rylie is, having to play him at WR at times this year is not what this offense is designed for. We also don't really have the option of transfers so it's going to take some time. It worked well against Air Force.

For people questioning Viti and Drink with the OL. Keep in mind the OL only have 5 on the field, if they stack the box with 9 (see UMASS), the OL can't block them all. That's falls on the scheme and execution to attack it. I feel like the OL did a great job this year and they are deep. They also have been recruiting more traditional tackles for the future.

A couple notes from what I was told:
- the traditional flex bone offense was just a package for CC. They are not going to switch offenses but will have it as a package. They were literally installing more plays that they didn't rep in practice on the sideline for CC.
- A few OL are trying to get another year of eligibility, including Nuke.
- Hopefully Udoh stays, he could be making a million in NIL at other schools.
