It seems Army and Navy, Air Force to a lesser degree, has really struggled as of late to find and keep healthy a QB that can run their offenses? Obviously O-Line play is critical to our schemes, as with any offense; however, we have had some very difficult time finding a talent that can execute the true option, take the pounding of the inside/off tackles runs, and be accurate enough to provide some balance in the passing attack. Additionally, We see a clear trend of more crowding and attacking defenses with 8 in the box. I also think the transfer portal is resulting in more mature, bigger, better talented players making there way from Power 5 depth charts filtering into the lesser conferences as starters that present a greater talent gap with the service academies compared to a few years ago. Add in the ban against cut blocking on the perimeter. Are these elements combining to create a condition that it’s nearly impossible to find a talent at QB to reliably make our offense , as designed, work?
