See if you can find the hidden accomplishment in this statement

Hillary Clinton March 11, 2014:

“My accomplishments as Secretary of State? Well,
I'm glad you asked! My proudest accomplishment in which I take the most pride, mostly because of the opposition it faced early on, you know… the remnants of prior situations and mindsets that were too narrowly focused in a manner whereby they may have overlooked the bigger picture and we didn’t do that and I’m proud of that. Very proud. I would say that’s a major accomplishment.”

Actually, on Saturday is the Army football team’s annual banquet and GBK Publisher Charles Grevious was invited to attend by head coach Jeff Monken. I doubt that Charles will be doing any interviewing of current players and/or the prospects who will also be in attendance ... but we shall see.

More importantly, it will serve as a great opportunity for the official visitors to actually connect and engage with a variety of coaches, players and administration in one single venue.

The Inside Stuff One assistant coach has been hired?

As you know, there has been an ongoing search to replace D-line coach, Ray McCartney and CB coach, Orlando Mitjans.

Our sources suggest that the D-line coach has been hired, although there is not 100% certainty yet because he has not signed a contract. At this time, we are not sure who the candidate is and we are not aware of who Coach Monken is targeting to backfield Mitjans' spot.

However, if you recall last year when RB Lamont Seward was separated from the program, there was a slight shift in coaching duties whereby Monken hired WR coach Keith Gaither and moved Tucker Waugh from wide receivers to slotback coach.

Recruiting factoid from JMs past

Was watching the team of my youth, MN Vikings, play Green Bay this weekend. Noted that Jerick McKinnon was in the game who played QB for Jeff Monken at Georgia Southern. Not sure how involved JM was in that recruiting process as he was hired NOV 2009 and McKinnon was a freshman in 2010. However, McKinnon selected GSU over Navy and Air Force and developed into a fantastic player (beating Florida in 2013).

Anyways, just found this to be another encouraging data point on the ability of JM to recruit and develop talent.

The Inside Stuff GBK: Army Fast Forward - 2016 Defensive Backs

Salvatore Interdonato has confirmed the above in his Black Knights Blog. Apparently JJ will be back for spring ball though limited for the beginning of it. I like the idea of JJ, B Jackson and X Moss in the secondary. I think we will do much better than the historical average there, and on Def overall. Reason for optimism.

Wisdom from Coach Belichick on installing a new football program

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...p-kelly-says-lot-ex-eagles-not-doing-too-much

"So the coach that comes in usually has a different philosophy than the coach that left, so you have to try to implement that philosophy, and that means you're going to turn over a high percentage of the roster because the players the other coach had don't fit the new philosophy. So a lot of the players are going to have to change, in part of the philosophy and in part because of the scheme; those kind of role-type players, now that role is not needed in the new scheme. A different role is needed, so you have different players. Then just getting your team acclimated to doing things the way of the philosophy of the new program. You're going to have to go through a lot of tough situations -- tough games, tough losses, tough stretches in the season, whatever it happens to be. To build that up over time, it doesn't happen in training camp. ...

"It takes some time to go through that. I don't think there is any shortcut to it. I know there is a lot of other people in the league that think there is, there's instant; in two weeks everything is going to change. I don't buy into that."

The Inside Stuff GBK Update: Army Football Coaching Changes

As we mentioned yesterday, there were anticipated coaching changes within the ranks of the Army football staff. Although there has not been any official word, several sources have confirmed that both Orlando Mitjans & Ray McCartney, who coached the cornerbacks and defensive line, respectfully and who are no longer part of the staff.

Of course, it would only be speculation on my part as to the reason(s) behind the separation of either of the coaches. Positional performance? Perhaps. Recruiting success or lack thereof? Maybe.

But at the end of the day, there are two critical coaching needs that have to be met, along with the current staff picking up the slack when it comes to recruiting the respective states that McCartney and Mitjans handled.

Needless to say, we will keep you in the loop with any potential names that may be on the radar.
