Friday kicked-off a weekend that saw the Army Black Knights’ coaching staff host 17 recruits on the West Point campus, where there as a combination of committed and non-committed players.

I'm no shrinking violet when it comes to competition nor naive as to what goes on in the recruiting wars. But its disappointing to hear what the Bucknell coach was saying to Cameron Jones as he tried to de-commit. Bringing up the service commitment. I may be off base but here's why:
1. Is his job at Bucknell that critical, that he has to bring that up to a kid that has a one in a million oppty. Have they ever had an FBS win? No one cares whether he wins or loses. And theres very few programs where you can say that.
2. You can say it in a lot of different ways, such as "you wont be playing a lot of beer pong at USMA". But the service commitment should be off limits. Its visceral. Its playing off fear of a 17 year old, which is scaring him about locking down his life and freedom. It effects every American taxpayer. That includes his tax dollars investment.
3. In the end wont that boomerang on him? I hope it will lead to not giving him the big payday of playing us, or if we ever get good enough, piling it on.

I hope we follow through on #3. We have nothing to gain by playing them if they are the classiest of programs.

TE, Ryan Neuzil enjoyed his visit to Army West Point

Mike Farrell of Rivals ranked the Top 50 college players in the country, now that the season is officially over. What caught my attention was the write up on #42 ranked player, Keenan Reynolds of Navy.

He wasn’t highly recruited, but took advantage of an opportunity at Navy and never looked back.

Perhaps, Chris Carter is that guy or even Bradshaw or the 2 starters at the prep school (won’t mention their names) or the 4-5 QB commits that we have for the 2016 class. None are 3 or 4 star recruits, but as Carter has already demonstrated, you can make things happen without all the stars.
