Army - ACU Prediction Thread

I’ll get it started. Army comes back with a vengeance and fixes our issues on offense against an overmatched FCS opponent.

Army - 52
ACU - 7

FYI the spread opened at Army - 30.5.

Keys I am looking for that will give me confidence we can beat tougher opponents in November and UTSA on the road in October:
Defense:
- Fix the miscommunication issues in the backfield. Doaks was turned loose by Rhattigan on his wheel route that went for a TD. Rhattigan thought we were in zone and Bourdeau, who should have been behind him, was in the middle of the field playing man.
There were at least two other plays where Bourdeau played outside leverage on post routes thinking he had safety help but there was no one there to be found and Cincinnati came away with big gains.
There is a common denominator in most of the big plays the defense surrendered against Cincinnati. I’m really hoping McDuffie gets the start over Bourdeau at CB. Moore is a lock down corner on the other side of the field. And our safeties have played well even with Cunningham out of the lineup last week. The only exception to that would be if, in fact, Bourdeau was right and there was supposed to be safety help on the post and slant routes. We’ll never know.
Offense-
- Our O line better have a dominant performance this week. I’m looking for our B-backs to gash them for big gains.
- This will be a good game to rotate a lot of linemen in to see who can really move people at the point of attack. Left tackle appears to be a bit of a concern spot.
- Eliminate the foolish penalties. Again, great game that if a kid makes a mistake and commits a false start, etc., sit him down for a series or a quarter so we can get these problems fixed.
- I know JM won’t do this, but it would be nice if Anderson and Jones each played a half or alternated series to see who gets better results. I think Anderson is probably much faster and maybe makes better decisions and that is why he is currently QB1, but I think Jones has more power and is more in the Bradshaw/Hopkins mode of a power runner who can get the tough yard or two when plays break down. I also think he’s a more accurate passer, but who knows? I haven’t seen any practices and the coaches are there every day.
- Speaking of Anderson, he has 3 turnovers the last two games. You simply can’t operate this offense if you turn the ball over that much. He needs to not turn it over at least the month of October. 2 games in a row is a problem. 3 is a trend.
- This brings me to my final key. I’m hoping we can use this game to practice our play action passing game. Our O linemen certainly need the reps in pass pro. ACU is the kind of opponent we can throw an incompletion on 1st and 10 and still recover to make a first down (if we don’t kill ourselves with penalties). Cincinnati was a little too good to recover from 2nd and 10.

The Inside Stuff GBK Official Post Game (Army-Cincinnati) Thread

This was a game that every Army fan was looking forward to and it started off well for the Black Knights, as the defense kicked things off. However, the offense never got started, as they were both ineffective and were inconsistent throughout the day.

Despite a great effort by Army's defense, the #22 Black Knights fell short to the #14 Cincinnati Bearcats, 24-10.

We will have our GBK post-game coverage, but this thread is established to hear from the Army fans relative to today's contest, so please feel free to chime in.

Hi, my name is Ken and I like to whine

I do find it fun he is throwing shade at Air Force, but I am really tired of this guy’s antics. As my grandpa used to say, “He’s got more excuses than Carter has liver pills.”
I don’t know what that means, but it sounds like it fits. Ken, America is tired of your incessant whining. At least Army is. Shut up and prepare your team, you sanctimonious jackass. Again, SO happy we have Monken. I haven’t heard JM question playing for the CiC this year. We’ll smack Air Force around for 60 minutes and then we’ll go whip the squids just for fun. (Ken and Troy, meet Nate Woody. He’s here to send the “bad boys” to wreak havoc in your backfield and kick your ass).
December 12th is coming. Tick, tock...Kenny. That is, if your team doesn’t forfeit due to COVID or some other b.s., but I’m sure when our warriors are done smacking you around for 60 minutes, you’ll use the “Well Army played 3 FCS teams,” or make up some bs about your shoes causing injuries. Gosh I friggin hate this team more and more every year.
That’s why I’m really hoping we beat Cincinnati. Not just so we can preserve our undefeated season, but so we can once again lay claim to beating one of the best teams in the AAC. They NEVER run out of freaking excuses. They make them up before the games even happen. I think that’s why I thoroughly enjoyed that butt whoopin on national TV on Labor Day.
