Coach Davis mentioned something today that I had also meant to comment about. QB Tyhier Tyler looks like he has finally improved at running real triple option plays last Saturday. And it made a big difference in the play of our offense. This is very encouraging because he will be available to play QB next year.
Last year - up to and including the bowl game - TT seemed like a very one dimensional but hard running QB. He seemed to be playing a package of plays where he was always carrying the ball following the B Back either up the middle or around the defensive ends and turning inside up the field. And this made sense because he started the year as an A back in our offense. But opponents were playing 9 or more players in the box to counteract those plays.
If Tyler’s improved play keeps up we could be looking at an offense next year where we have Ahmad Bradshaw like running numbers at the QB position. Not Christian Anderson numbers with a few crazy long runs. More like long grinding drives that eat clock and tire the opponents out.
