I don’t want to make this sound like some bromance announcement, but I do think that a HOOAH is at least worthy of what I am about to say.

First, I attended my first Army football camp, because I was their with my nephew who participated. If you haven’t gone before, the camp is well run, but it is a long day so bring your favorite tailgate chair. LOL

Anyway, that is really not what I am getting at - what I am trying to say is that GBK, or even more specifically Charles Grevious is highly respected amongst the football program and more so, the coaching staff starting with Head Coach Jeff Monken.

For example - there were hundreds of participants and as players and their family or coaches waiting in line (me being one of them) to enter the massive weight room where you confirmed your registration, received your camp shirt, etc .... I saw Coach Jay Bateman and Todd Spencer at the desk outside of the weight room. There was another gentleman with them and they were chatting and laughing ... as QB Kelvin Hopkins walked by, Bateman bellowed in a sarcastic/joking manner, “Aren’t you going to say hello to Mr. Grevious?” and of course Kelvin made his way over to greet Charles by saying how are you doing Mr. G., whereby Charles just laughed and greeted Hopkins.

I kind of chuckled to myself and I told my nephew that is the gentleman who runs GBK.

This trend continued as the line continues to move and we are finally actually in the weight room and just moments later, Charles walks in and he is respectfully greeted by all the coaches that happen to be in that area.

As we finally get to the indoor facility to kick off the camp, Charles is engaged in conversation and laughter with Wilt, Dixon, Davis, Bateman, and a few players, especially Fred Cooper.

Finally Monken arrives inside the facility as the camp is about ready to officially take place. However, he stops for a brief moment, and makes a B line to Charles and vice versa and they warmly greet one another and chat for about 2-3 minutes and I said to myself ... there is much mutual respect between GBK/Charles and the Army coaching staff.

During the positional breakout of the camp, Charles was engaged in conversation with a couple of committed players that were hanging around during the camp session and I went over to introduce myself to Charles and we began to talk about the team of course, GBK and other fun facts - LOL.

Great guy and I can see why he is respected amongst the program and that is another reason why I embrace the content and coverage here on this site.
