THIS IS WHY THEY GET D1 players

http://m.navysports.com/m/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/043016aad.html

This is why they get good players in their program, that compete on a D1 status... When we start getting the picture and stop playing these games, rather we want this program to start (winning) and being competitive like a D1 program.. Then we will keep losing players, that can take us there.. Promoting the NFL and paving a way for our players that are capable to do it, is the (only) way we're going to be able to get the players we need to compete... Swain is good but not better then Larry Dixon stats speak for itself.. Ijs Dixon should have been supported the same way and Maples too.... If you had of (promoted) the possibility you would have a better recruitment... Don't give me the speech about whatever, I'm not trying to hear it... Either we want this program to move forward on a D1 status competition wise or we don't. Congratulations to them both!!!!!!!!!

The Inside Stuff Army's 2016 Football Captains Named

For the 2016 season, the inside linebacker tandem of Jeremy Timpf and Andrew King will hold the title of Army Black Knights football captains. Timpf, who is out of Tucson (AZ), held the title in 2015, while his linebacking partner is from Queens (NY) holds the distinction for the upcoming football campaign.

We will more on this announcement later today.

In the meantime, here's out April 2nd interview/article on King and Timpf.

Some standouts from the Spring game

Talked with a few friends that were at the Spring game. Here are some guys who stood out according to them. This doesn't mean other guys didn't stand out. These were just the guys who got mentions.

Carter - threw the ball very well...runs smooth...makes great decisions with the ball. Continues to show progress.
Rhoden - bigger FB who can shed tackles, and runs with an edge. Could give Kemper and Davidson a run for their money at the B back.
Poe - looked great on a few catches; and does a great job faking stalk blocks and getting out into patterns. Great route running.
Jackson - looks very good at CB, can play press coverage if need be, and had a big pick.
Brinson - big improvement over 2015...looks way more comfortable out there.
Moss - continues to be most improved player on the D. Made a couple of really nice plays.

On the downside:
O line still doesn't look great and needs lots of improvement. Granted, there were a lot of injuries so take that with a grain of salt, but this is still an area of concern that may take some time to develop depth.

Overall notes and summary:
Even though offense won the scrimmage due to scoring system, the defense was pretty dominant and as @Charles Grevious had previously mentioned in another thread, they have the potential for a really good year.
Overall, it was a great experience and great day. Had a big-time college football program atmosphere with recruits, former players, and the Q&A with Jeff Monken for donors/season ticket holders. Program definitely moving in the right direction. Progress may be slower than some people wish, but opinion of most of my friends who were there is that the program will win more games this year (5-7 or 6-8) and in 2017 will really start to rack up some wins and beat some people.
Current and former players (firsties) who talked with some of my friends mentioned what a good coach Monken is and that he is definitely the right man for the job. Also, a lot of positive comments about the new coaches on D (Brown, Wilt, Dixon).

Would be curious to hear thoughts of @ArmyBlitz or other folks who were at the game.

The Inside Stuff Black & Gold Spring Game & Jr. Day - GBK Style!

Man, I don’t know where to start. But it was a very very good football day for the Army Black Knights’ program ... at least from where I sit.

Potentially, this group has an opportunity to have a very dynamic 2016 season, but of course there are many factors that must fall into place in order for that to occur. One of those factors that has not been lacking throughout the spring and showed itself during today’s Spring closeout contest was the intensity on both sides of the ball.

The “D” looked strong and after the contest DC Jay Bateman simply smiled and asked, “Charles, what do you think?" and we both laughed. Meaning, the “D” is coming to play and Bateman said that he is also very excited to get Voit, Smith and McLean back.

But anyway, we have tons to report ranging from video interviews with Josh McNary, Ali Villanueva, defensive line coach Chad Wilt, several commits and recruits. Our Photo Feature will be forthcoming, along several post Junior Day interviews/photos, so keep it right here on GoBlackKnights.com

Big Lacrosse Game Tomorrow

As if it weren't enough to be playing Navy on national TV, the winner of tomorrow's lacrosse game will have the edge on the Patriot League regular season championship. Inside Lacrosse has Navy ranked 10th and Army ranked 20th this week. Both are 5-1 in conference play, with Navy 8-2 overall and Army 7-3. But for a 8-7 loss to Bucknell, a couple of weeks ago, Army would be on top. Navy has played the toughest part of their schedule, while Army still has to play #13 Loyola and #1 Notre Dame after beating Navy.

Game will be on CBS Sports starting at noon tomorrow.
