Although I am generally against playoff expansion, I think this is interesting. What makes college football great is every regular season game matters. I know very few people that pay attention to the college basketball regular season because the games just don’t really matter week in and week out. So many teams get into the “Big Dance.” Most people start paying attention in March. Having said all that, the 12 team format is intriguing. Army would definitely have a shot at an at large bid if they had a perfect regular season and managed to knock off a quality power 5 team. There was some mention of the first round being the second weekend in December. I am not sure how that would affect the Army-Navy Game. I like that there is no differentiation between group of 5 and power 5. Of course, rankings will heavily favor power 5 teams, but at least smaller conferences have a shot.
