Max was a helluva point guard for his high school, starting as a freshman and sophomore, before losing his junior year to a knee injury. He was their leading scorer and won Northern Region Player of the Year his senior year, along with being voted 1st Team All-State in Virginia. Coach Arritt of Fork Union Military Academy thought Lenox to be the best all-around player he ever coached.
