Yes, I know we play Fordham this weekend. And I don't want the team to look past that match-up. But I just got home from watching Buffalo play Minnesota and I wanted to share my impressions. The final score was 17-7 in favor of Minnesota. The Bulls are not a bad team. That said, the Gophers left some points on the table tonight (missed FGs, interception in the end zone, etc.). Buffalo's defense is a bit suspect at they gave up over 400 yards for the game. Most of that came via the pass, even though the MN QBs are very inexperienced. Buffalo does not have an impressive running game. I think they rushed for 51 yards. Their QB is big, strong, and good. He has one WR who can absolutely fly (I think #83). They went deep a few times to him, and our DBs need to be ready to keep up. It will be hard to play man coverage on him. The Buffalo short passing game is good. The QB does a very nice job with short drops and quick throws. So MN was not able to get any real pressure on him.
I think the Army-Buffalo game will be relatively high scoring. MN has a good front seven, who can run well. And Buffalo still moved the ball. I would expect them to score against us. BUT... I also expect that our offense will move it very well against their D. I'll save my prediction for next week's thread but I think Army can definitely beat this team.
