Generally, I think all-time great coaches can do 3 things:

1. Turn a program around
2. Sustain success
3. Retool and rethink when the competitive landscape changes

Coach K hits all three especially when he retooled in the 1-and-done era. Saban is an all-timer. Dabo hits first two but has fallen behind in the era of NIL and transfer portal. This is why I always felt Coach Ken at Navy was over-rated; he never did 1 or 3. As an aside, it's why I think Matt Rhule is one of the best college (not NFL) coaches out there. Watch Nebraska over the next couple of year. Lance Leipold might be one of the best of the best.

Monken has done 1 and 2. Now he needs to do 3. This is going to be a big test for him, his staff, and the players. In 2023, we are one of the worst teams in college football. The transfer portal is not coming to save us. If he gets this done, he too will be an all-timer.
