I just wanted to stop by and let you guys know that Michigan has been planning for this event for a long time. There will be flyovers that include Black Hawk UH-60's, Chinook CH-47's, Lakota UH-72's, Parachute Jump, and several U.S. Army static displays around the Stadium.

The crews from each aircraft and jump will be honored in the Third quarter after a time out on the field. Michigan also honors a decorated Veteran in the third quarter of every home game. We also have a tradition every year called MGoTroops where tickets are donated by our fans to veterans and active duty military. So, you will have a few more fans in the stadium than normal because this year we obviously chose the Army game.

We are looking forward to having you visit the largest stadium in the country. It has been sold out for months. So, expect a late third quarter announcement of over 110,000 fans in attendance. The most anywhere watching a college football game on Sep 7th.

There are so many traditions that you will see on that Saturday I can't list them all, but here are some of them:

Band Take the Field. Band high steps out of the tunnel forming a Block M

Playing Hail to the Victors, Varsity, they will head toward the south end zone first and when they come back north they break out into a very slow high step and a good time to capture it on your cell phone.

Players jumping/touching the " M Club Supports You Banner" when they come out of the tunnel.

Singing Mr. Brightside in the the third quarter. Once they return from time out the students take it A Cappella.

The GOOOOOOOOOOOOO Bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue chant. Two sides of the stadium battle back and forth. One side says "Gooooo" and the other Bluuuue."

The wave

Performed in stadiums all over the world, "the wave" is nothing new to sports fans, but in true Michigan fashion, the wave at Michigan Stadium is just a little bit bigger than everyone else's.

You won't see the wave at Michigan Stadium until the third quarter and only if the Wolverines have a decent lead. Once it starts, however, it's a sight to be seen.

Starting with two circuits of a traditional wave, the students section kicks it off. Once the first two circuits are done, a fast wave quickly makes its way around the stadium before it's reduced to a very slow wave.

Once the slow wave is finished, the student section reverses course and send it back the other way at the original speed. On the final lap, the students split the wave in opposite directions which creates a cross-section effect around the stadium.

If you're sitting near the student section, commit these rules to memory. If you're not near the students, you should have adequate time to prepare for your turn and still witness the effect in the stands.

Slippery Rock score - Huge cheers for Slippery Rock

Throughout the breaks in the action, the Michigan public address announcer routinely announces scores from around the country. They usually include Big Ten and Top-25 teams, but also one that may seem out of place: Slippery Rock.

In 1959, Wolverines public address announcer Steve Filipiak began announcing score of Slippery Rock's game and it's been part of the Michigan football experience ever since. Fans react to the Slippery Rock score as if it were their own beloved Wolverines as cheers or boos rain down depending on the score.

The unique relationship with the two schools has allowed Slippery Rock to play games at the Big House on a few occasions.

Chants - don't be offended. When we went 3-9, we ended it with "we suck"

Throughout the game there are several times when various chants are used. One that you may be familiar with from watching on TV is the "you suck" chant that pops up when the opponent fails to convert a third down. After the opponent fails to convert, the band plays a short tune, at the end of the song, the student section yells "you suck."

Listen for the song "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes as well, as the fans chant along with the beat of the song too.

Have fun!
