Army’s loss to Troy on Saturday was not tied to one particular play, referee call, etc. Because one could point to a series of errors by the Black Knights throughout the entire four quarters.
However, there is one play/referee call that did stand out.
It was 2nd & 8 at the Troy 9-yard line, with .21 remaining in the 2nd quarter, with Army leading 6-0. Jemel Jones is in for QB Tyhier Tyler, who had to sit out a play due to losing his helmet on the previous play.
On this 2nd & 8 play, Jones hits wide receiver Isaiah Alston in the front corner of the end zone, but the refs indicate that he made the reception, but out of bounce.
Did the referee make the right call? GBK even asked this of Coach Monken during the post-game press conference or at least we wondered if the call by the ref was reviewable.
