If I recall correctly, they didn't have the shot clock in college basketball back then, and we could play a very effective ball control game. I think it was ultimately fan disdain for the NC four corner offense that killed that strategy. USMA had min and max height requirements back then with the max being 6' 6" with a two inch waiver; so none of our recruits could be taller than 6' 8" Mike Silliman left at 6' 10" but I think he grew a couple of inches after arriving. Bobby Knight was an assistant coach for that team, serving his active duty requirement as a PFC, as I recall. We got a lot of good assistant coaches back then because of the draft.
