Coming off one of the best performances by the offense in West Point history (556 yards rushing were the most against a current FBS team in academy history), the Black Knights head right back out on the road to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in University Park, Pa, affectionately referred to as the “Happy Valley” by local residents and Penn State fans (see below).

The LIVE Blog/Chat, which opens 15 minutes (11:45am EST) prior to kick-off and throughout the entire contest.

FYI to Army fans this weekend...

I just wanted to let you know that there is something brewing regarding the coin toss at PSU. It's an internal Penn State thing. The PSU Administration and Board of Trustees have tapped a State College resident and West Point Grad (Bruce Heim) to accompany the Army Captains or otherwise participate in the coin toss on Saturday. PSU fans will be booing the coin toss. We are not booing the Cadets but rather Mr Heim's participation.

Mr Heim is a controversial figure in that he was involved in the Jerry Sandusky scandal as a State College/PSU Insider and board member of Sandusky's Second Mile Charity. The circumstances of Mr Heim's involvement have never been fully answered as with all of the other PSU trustees. To date, all efforts by alums to force transparency at the state level and on the PSU Board have been blocked.

If you hear booing or jeering it's not poor sportsmanship it's an internal dispute by PSU fans and alums who are trying to fight for reform of university governance and transparency from the Sandusky scandal.

Just an FYI

Who is our true Deep Threat WR ???

I believe if we are to have any chance against Penn State’s defense, we can’t allow them to play 8 in the box, which is what I am guessing they will come out doing unless we can counter that.

No long passes.....who is our deep threat ? Well it’s not Edgar Poe and surely not DeAndre Bell because that would constitute us having the slowest wideouts in the country. I propose that we actually use John Trainor out there more often. I know we use him in the slot in our passing schemes, which is great, but he remains our only noted speed guy.

Navy or AFA on Saturday?

Our two SA rivals meet on Saturday in Annapolis in the first matchup for the CiC (CBS Sports at 3:30). Which will team win? The two have similar records going into the game with Navy at 3-0 (Sagarin rank 53) and AFA at 2-1 (Sagarin rank 63) with the MSU game tilting the difficulty of schedule arrow toward AFA.
Navy's 3 wins were against
Colgate (Sagarin 192) 48-10
ECU (Sagarin 79) 45-21; and
UConn (Sagarin 110) 28-18.
AFA's 2 wins were against
Morgan State (Sagarin 226) 63-7
San Jose State (Sagarin 85)
with their only loss against #2 Michigan State 21-35
Scoring: Both Navy and AFA are averaging 40.3 points per game. Navy D has given up 16.3 ppg and AFA has given up 19.3 ppg.
Offenses: Navy has rushed for an average of 363 ypg, and AFA has rushed for 367 ypg. AFA passes more often with an average of 97 ypg versus Navy's 49 ypg (slight advantage to AFA)
Defenses: AFA has given up an average of 93 yards rushing and 176 passing for a total average of 269 ypg, while Navy has given up 128 ypg rushing and 223 passing for a total of 351 ypg (advantage AFA)

Navy has home field advantage but recently that hasn't provided a big advantage. In the last 5 years both teams have won an away game against each other.
2014 AFA beat Navy 30-21 at home
2013 Navy beat AFA 28-10 at home
2012 Navy beat AFA 28-21 in OT in Colorado Springs
2011 AFA beat Navy 35-34 in Annapolis
2010 AFA beat Navy 14-6 at home

GBK Update: QB Ahmad Bradshaw

Preliminary reports (not official) suggest that Bradshaw, who suffered a low ankle injury could possibly play on Saturday versus Penn State. Our sources say that the injury is minor. However, if any of you have ever suffered an sprained ankle, sometime it can be as worse as a broken ankle.

Of course, we expect that Coach Monken will address Bradshaw’s status during his Weekly Pre-Game Press Conference on Tuesday.
